13 Hours, 800+ miles, four tanks of gas, four states, torrential rain, wind shear, flooding, reduced visibility, idiot drivers, two slim jims, two clif bars, one 20oz Coke, one bratwurst and a salted caramel monster coffee.
Guess who’s back Motherfuckers…

Seventeen years ago, this day changed everyone’s life. 2,977 people died today as they were going to work. This is the first September 11th that I’m not in the U.S. Coast Guard. I’m proud of my service to the country during those days and the ones that followed but the last few years of my career, I would be mostly on leave or liberty. Maybe subconsciously I was avoiding it. I rarely watch the news on this day. I’d be lying if it didn’t make me anxious now. One of the reasons it affects me so much is that I saw people and communities directly influenced by the loss from the events of that day and even if you have only a shred of empathy, you can never really close that door. You can’t really forget…
Normally, I’d run inland and avoid the weather but I’m with some friends and I’m sure they could use some help pre and post hurricane, so I’m going to stay put until it blows over. Then I’ll head North….

Prepping and repairing the Fat Bob for Sturgis. Dickie installed the new LED headlights yesterday and I’m picking up the Screamin’ Eagle Big Twin Compensator from the HD dealer this morning. Amazon should be delivering new titanium exhaust wraps for the pipes today too. The Clutch is fine but will need some adjustment. We have the new rear pulley and new chain tensioner ready and we’ll finish the install Sunday and she’ll be ready to roll hopefully Monday. I’ll have a week for a proper shakedown until we head up to Sturgis. It’ll be nice to get back on the Motorcycle since my shoulder got repaired, it’s been too long.
